Christopher Michael Beard is an American coach at the University of Texas at Austin (Texas). He previously coached Little Rock , Angelo State and McMary. Beard graduated from highschool at McCullough highschool within the Woodlands, Texas. He was a manager in Texas at Austin under longhorn coach Tom Penders at the University of Texas, graduating in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in kinesiology. He received his master's education from Abilene Christian University, where he served as a graduate assistant in 1998.
Under Beard's supervision, the Red Raiders scored the deepest NCAA tournament run in class history. In 2019, the Raiders won a school-record 31 games on the way to the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship game against the Virginia Cavaliers. He was recognized because the 2019 AP National Coach of the Year.

Randi Trew also teaches Junior English at Frenship High School outside of Lubbock, Texas.
Professional Career as Coach -- As a student assistant in Texas and a graduate assistant at Incarnate Word and Abilene Christian, Beard was an assistant coach in North Texas 1997–1999.
From there, he was hired because the head coach at Fort Scott junior college , where he coached the team for a 1912 record and its first winning season in 8 years. In 2000, he was hired because the head coach at Seminole State College. In his one year, he went 25–6 and finished 14th within the country.
Later that season, he was hired as an assistant and later head coach at Texas Tech to figure under veteran Bob Knight. During his time at Texas Tech, the Red Raiders traveled to the NIT Final Four, also as four NCAA Tournament appearances. Chris Baird spent 10 years coaching at Texas Tech under Bob Knight and his son Pat Knight, often citing the influence of the 2 men because the keys to success.
Beard also spent a year because the head coach for the South Carolina Warriors of the American Basketball Association, where he led the team to a 29–2 record. In 2012, he was appointed as head coach at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, where he spent a season. In March 2013, he was hired because the sixth head coach at Angelo State. In two years, with Rama, he became 47–15.
On 27 March 2016, Beard accepted a head coaching at UNLV. Beard took the Texas Tech job on April 15, 2016, when Tube Tech Smith's move to Memphis vacated his Texas Tech head coaching .
With a 78–65 convert Beard's Boilermakers on March 23, 2018, Beard coached Texas Tech to an elite eight berth for the primary time in program history. Baird won the large 12 Co-Coach of the Year in 2018.
