Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Hemant Nagrale on Wednesday took over as Mumbai's new commissioner , hours after he transferred Param Bir Singh as director general, home guards to the govt of Maharashtra. Addressing a news conference after taking up as police chief of the new city.

"I have beenappointed by the government to resolve the present situation, which has caused great embarrassment to the local department ," said Nagrel, serving because the Director General of Police (DGP) of the Maharashtra Police. 'Some recent developments have led to malfeasance.

Nagrale was pertaining to the sequence of events that led to the removal of his predecessor. Singh, a 1988 batch officer, was recently held responsible by the Maharashtra government for handling the billionaire Mukesh Ambani bomb case and therefore the police's ineligible 'over the related death of Thane based businessman Mansukh Hiran.The new Mumbai CP further stated that he would attempt to restore the arrogance of the people within the city's local department with the assistance of his subordinate officers and other members of the force.

Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh tweeted on Wednesday evening that Nagrale has been appointed because the new Mumbai commissioner , adding that Singh has been asked to go the home Guards. Deshmukh added that Rajnish Seth are going to be the acting DGP of Maharashtra while Sanjay Pandey will head Maharashtra State Security Corporation.
