Vogelbach was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the second round of the 2011 MLB draught. His professional debut came with the Arizona League Cubs. He hit.292/.370/.542 with a home run in 24 at bats in six games. Vogelbach began the 2012 season with the Arizona League Cubs before being promoted to the Boise Hawks during the season.

The Cubs traded Vogelbach and Paul Blackburn to the Seattle Mariners on July 20, 2016, in exchange for Mike Montgomery and Jordan Pries.After the Tacoma Rainiers were eliminated from the PCL playoffs, the Mariners assigned him to Tacoma and promoted him to the major leagues on September 12.
