On June 24, 2018, Isaako made his international debut for New Zealand against England in a historic test match held in Denver, Colorado, where he started on the wing and kicked three goals in a 36-18 loss. Because Isaako was in such good form for the Broncos, he started at fullback between Rounds 19-21, while incumbent fullback Darius Boyd was moved to centre, where he had some success before returning to the wing for the rest of the season.

After turning down a lucrative offer from the Sydney Roosters, Isaako extended his contract with the Broncos through the conclusion of the 2024 season on July 19, 2018.Isaako ended his thrilling 2018 NRL season by appearing in all 25 of the Broncos’ games, scoring 11 tries and kicking 97 goals, and finishing with 239 points as the club’s leading scorer.

Isaako was named Rookie of the Year at the 2018 Dally M Awards on September 26, and his amazing match-winning effort against the Sydney Roosters in Round 11 was selected Try of the Year.Isaako was picked to the New Zealand squad for their upcoming trip of the United Kingdom on October 1, 2018.

Isaako would only appear in one match, the third and final encounter against England, in which he played on the wing in a 34-0 win at Elland Road in Leeds.Isaako became a father on October 26, 2018, when his partner Abby Sutherland gave birth to their infant son Isaiah Jamayne Isaako.

Isaako only played 10 games for Brisbane in the 2020 NRL season owing to his father’s death, which meant he was unable to participate for the second half of the season due to quarantine rules, while the club finished last on the table and won the wooden spoon for the first time in their history.
