Kevin Proctor Professional Career

Proctor made his NRL debut for the Melbourne Storm against the St George Illawarra Dragons in Round 10 of the 2008 NRL season, coming off the bench in the Storm’s 36-12 loss at ANZ Stadium. During the State of Origin period, he appeared in three matches, filling in on the interchange bench. In 2008, Proctor was a member of the New Zealand Mori. Proctor appeared in the New Zealand Mori rugby league team’s 34-26 loss to the Indigenous Dreamtime team in the World Cup curtain opener at SFS.

Proctor came off the bench in the Storm’s 18-14 World Club Challenge victory over the Leeds Rhinos in 2010. He appeared in 22 games for the club during its eventful season. In the 18-18 draw with England, Proctor came off the bench for the Mori team. Proctor signed a contract extension in 2011 that would keep him on the team until the end of the 2014 season. He appeared in all 26 Storm games, scoring four tries. During the 2011 Four Nations tournament, Proctor toured with the New Zealand national rugby league team squad but did not play a match.

He appeared for New Zealand in the 2014 Anzac Test, which the Kiwis lost 30-18.Proctor re-signed with the Storm on May 27, keeping him with the club until the end of the 2018 season. He finished the season having appeared in all 25 Storm games and scoring 5 tries. Proctor was named to the New Zealand squad for the Four Nations series. He scored his first international try in New Zealand’s 30-12 victory over Australia at Suncorp Stadium, and went on to play in the final victory over Australia.

Proctor made his New Zealand debut against Australia on May 6, starting at second row in a 16-0 loss. Proctor started at second-row in the Storm’s 14-12 loss to the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the 2016 NRL Grand Final. He had 24 appearances and 6 tries by the end of the season. He was selected for the New Zealand Four Nations team and played in four matches, scoring one try in the tournament, including the Kiwis’ 34-8 loss to Australia in the final.

Proctor played his 250th first grade game against Cronulla-Sutherland at Kogarah Oval in round 14 of the 2020 NRL season. Proctor was sent off in the same game for allegedly biting Cronulla player Shaun Johnson. Proctor was found guilty of biting Johnson on August 18 and was suspended for four matches.

Proctor was fired by the Gold Coast club on July 25 after posting a video on Instagram of himself vaping during the half-time interval at Western Sydney Stadium. He was on the reserves list but did not play in the club’s round 19 match against Canterbury. The club also fined Proctor $15,000 for his actions.
