Olena Zelenska Career
On May 20, 2019, Zelenska was sworn in as Ukraine’s first lady. She was featured on the cover of the December issue of Vogue Ukraine on November 18th. She discussed her first endeavour, nutrition reform in Ukrainian schools, in an interview with the magazine.
The reform of the school nutrition system began with a new school meal prepared by CultFood chef Ievgen Klopotenko at Olena Zelenska’s request. The reform is a multi-faceted initiative that includes everything from increasing food quality, nutrition, and safety to providing resources to schools. The new school menu offers 160 choices, including traditional Ukrainian foods as well as popular delicacies from around the world. New food standards were adopted by Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers, and they went into effect on September 1, 2021.
Zelenska announced Ukraine’s participation to the G7 worldwide initiative on gender equality, the Biarritz Partnership, in December 2019, during a speech at the third Ukrainian Women’s Congress. The Biarritz Partnership was formalised in September 2020.
Zelenska spoke at the Fourth and Fifth Ukrainian Women’s Congresses in November 2020 and September 2021, respectively, a platform that brings together Ukrainian and worldwide public personalities, legislators, government officials, experts, and opinion leaders for equal rights for men and women.

As part of Zelenska’s “Without Barriers” initiative, the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the United Nations Development Program in Ukraine announced in December 2020 that they would create a convenient catalogue of services for vulnerable groups, which would be posted on the state portal “Action” in the category “Action.
