Professional Career

He relocated to Chicago in 1977 after finishing his studies in Texas and worked as a commodity dealer for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange until 1982. He eventually returned to Nebraska, where he began working for E.T. installations. E.T installations is a company that sells and instals C-band residential satellites.

In 1987, the company became renowned as the nation’s largest home satellite retailer after introducing over 2,000 satellites into the Midwest at the time. Patrick also worked in Fort Worth, Texas, from 1992 to 1996 as the Director of Sales and Livestock Auction Supervisor. Superior Livestock Auction was the first in the United States to use satellite video, and it has since evolved to become the largest livestock auction company in the country.

Patrick dreamed of combining all of his expertise into a single career that would provide him with help for the rest of his life. As a result, he decided to start a full-time rural television network that would broadcast 24 hours a day.

He created Rural Free Delivery Television (RFD-TV) on DISH Network in December 2000. In March 2002, the channel’s distribution was expanded to DIRECTV, which completed all key agreements, including those with Mediacom, Charter, Optimum, Suddenlink, Comcast, AT&T/U-verse, Time Warner Cable, Bright House, and Cox. Rural Free Delivery Television is now available in more than 50 million homes across the country. With the creation of the other two networks, the group has grown.

In 2017, Patrick founded the Cowboy channel, which was the first 24-hour network. It is presently based in the Fort Worth Stockyards and is dedicated to western sports and lifestyles. The station broadcasts “live” coverage of most big American events from all throughout the country. The channel features cowboys and cowgirls doing their roughest and most talented labour. With the support of participating satellite partners, the channel now owns about 40 million homes. Cowboy Channel Plus, the channel’s OTT streaming platform, was launched in March 2020. The new channel allows viewers to watch rodeos at any time of day or night.
