Professional Career

Shania Twain is a singer and songwriter from Canada. She has sold over 100 million records, making her the best-selling female artist in country music history and one of the most successful musicians of all time. Her popularity earned her several titles, including “Queen of Country Pop.” Billboard named her the top country-pop crossover star of the 1990s.

Twain, who grew up in Timmins, Ontario, began singing and writing songs at a young age before signing with Mercury Nashville Records in the early 1990s. When her self-titled debut studio album was released in 1993, it was a commercial flop. Twain rose to fame after collaborating with producer and later husband Robert John “Mutt” Lange on her second studio album, The Woman in Me (1995), which brought her widespread success. It sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, spawned eight singles, including “Any Man of Mine,” and earned her a Grammy nomination.

Come On Over (1997), her third studio album, became the best-selling studio album by a female act in any genre and the best-selling country album of all time, selling over 40 million copies worldwide.

Come On Over spawned twelve singles, including “You’re Still the One,” “From This Moment On,” “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and earned Twain four Grammy nominations. Up! (2002), her fourth studio album, spawned eight singles, including “I’m Gonna Getcha Good!”, “Ka-Ching!” and “Forever and Always,” and sold over 20 million copies worldwide, earning her a Diamond certification in the United States.

Twain went on hiatus in 2004, following the release of her Greatest Hits album, which produced three new singles, including “Party for Two,” revealing years later that Lyme disease and dysphonia had left her with a severely weakened singing voice.

She documented her vocal rehabilitation on the OWN miniseries Why Not? with Shania Twain, released her first single in seven years, “Today Is Your Day,” in 2012, and published an autobiography, From This Moment On, in 2013.

Twain returned to the stage the following year with Shania: Still the One, an exclusive concert residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace that lasted until 2014. She announced her farewell tour, the North American Rock This Country Tour, in 2015. Twain released her first studio album in 15 years, Now, in 2017, and went on tour in 2018.
