Thomas Lee Bass is an American musician and founding member of the heavy metal band Mötley Crüe. As well as being the band’s long-term drummer, Lee founded rap metal band Methods of Mayhem, and has pursued solo musical projects.

Thomas Lee Bass was born in Athens, Greece, on October 3, 1962, to David Lee Thomas Bass ( Father ) , an American U.S. Army sergeant, and Vassiliki “Voula” Papadimitriou ( Mother ) a Miss Greece contestant for the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. Athena, his younger sister, is a drummer as well. Lee’s father returned the family to the United States when he was about two years old, settling in California.

When Lee was four years old, he got his first drum sticks, and when he was a teenager, he got his first proper drum equipment. He dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music, which he began with Suite 19, an L.A. club band. He listened to Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, Kiss, AC/DC, and Sweet as a teenager.
