Woodbridge is best known for his Doubles successes with Mark Woodforde and, later, Jonas Björkman. He is regarded as one of the greatest doubles players of all time, having won 16 Grand Slam men’s doubles titles and six Grand Slam mixed doubles titles. He also won a gold medal with Woodforde at the 1996 Summer Olympics, completing a career Golden Slam. He has won 83 ATP doubles titles in total. In July 1992, Woodbridge ranked first in the world in doubles.

He was inducted into the Australian Institute of Sport’s ‘Best of the Best’ list in 2002.Between 2006 and 2018, Woodbridge worked as a tennis commentator for Seven Sport, where he also hosted the network’s Australian Open coverage. He hosted the morning sessions of the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast for the network in April 2018.Along with Woodforde, he received the International Tennis Federation’s (ITF) highest honor, the Philippe Chatrier award, in 2014 for his contributions to tennis.

Woodbridge worked as a commentator for the Seven Network during the Australian Open in 2006 and 2007. In addition, he became an ambassador for the bowel cancer awareness organization “Let’s Beat Bowel Cancer.” An initiative of Cabrini Health. Woodbridge appeared on the sixth season of Dancing with the Stars Australia in 2007. In 2008 and 2009, Woodbridge committed to the sailing community by hosting tennis clinics and wine tasting events at Hamilton Island Race Week.

Woodbridge was the tournament director for the Australian Open legends event in 2009.He was appointed coach of the Australian Davis Cup Team in July 2009, taking on a newly expanded, full-time position that combines his role as national men’s coach overseeing the male player development pathway with the Davis Cup coaching job.

On Australia Day in 2010, The Woodies were inducted into the Australian Tennis Hall of Fame for their tennis achievements. Their bronzed statues were placed in Melbourne Park alongside other great Australian tennis players as part of the induction ceremony. The Woodies were inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in July 2010.

After winning the broadcast rights for six years, Woodbridge was signed by the Nine Network in 2018 as a commentator for Wide World of Sports tennis, including the Australian Open. Wimbledon 2018 was his final event for the Nine Network. Woodbridge had planned to compete in the Margaret Court Cup in Albury in 2021, but was unable to do so due to domestic border closures.
